Planning Tools You Can Use

As you pursue the goals and plan for your life, often you will want simple answers to complex situations. Often at Servus Capital management I hear:

  • When can I retire?
  • How much life insurance is needed?
  • How much can I save for retirement?
  • Is a ROTH or Standard IRA best?
  • What are the questions that you have?

As I worked at Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and now with my own firm, I have people from all walks of life want some form of financial planning.  However, most of the options include a robust and often intimidating presentation, when they just want a simple answer.  An answer that provides guidance and direction, much like a road sign and not a coffee table book that collects dust.

As you scroll down there will be tools that you can use by yourself or with my help.  I often get the request for something my clients can “play with” as they view various options.  If you want to register, then please feel free to contact me.  Clients have unlimited access.

You will see the next section is an area so many of our clients enjoy.  It has a Netflix type of feel as you go through options and go through whatever module you prefer.

Then there are tools that are available to my clients. Those tools combine their assets and any plan they may have.

As always, if you have any questions or needs, please contact me.

The number one question I get about retirement is: “When can I retire?”  This simple yet complex question requires a little work.

I have designed a simple to use calculator that will help you determine your first year of income in retirement. The results will be emailed to you and you can easily change the scenarios.

Before you go there, please have a few items (for you and your spouse) to make the process go smoother:

  • Social Security statement
  • Any pension or set retirement income
  • Any trust distributions you will receive
  • 401(k), 403(b), ROTH IRA, IRA, or other retirement account balance
  • Annuity statements (income or account value)
  • Rental Income

Then go to the Servus Retirement Income Calculator to determine your first year of retirement income.  If you want to look at future years use The Blocks above or contact me.

Financial planning for your familyDo you wonder how much you can set aside for your goal?

Often people are planning a family, retirement or a family vacation.  They then have the logical next question: How much can I put towards that goal?

This can be a daunting task, however it doesn’t need to be.  Easiest way to handle this is through a simple budget.

Now that budget can not be a simple listing of the following: house expenses, transportation, food and miscellaneous.  You will want to be specific in each category.  Now this doesn’t have to be intimidating or complex, just thorough.

I have designed a budget calculator that will accomplish just that.  Easy to use and thorough.  You will need your bank statement and a calculator to add up the various expenses.  As an example, Car Payment is easy, however all the drinks that are bought at Starbucks need to be added up for a monthly total.

You can find the easy to use budget calculator along with some education around a budget.  If you run into any problems please contact me and I will be willing to help.
