About Allan Malina — Fiduciary Financial Advisor in Lynchburg, VA

Allan Malina founded Servus Capital Management in 2009 with a clear conviction: families in Central Virginia deserved a financial advisor who was legally and structurally required to work for them — not for a broker-dealer, not for a product company, and not for a commission. That's still the only way we operate.

Firm Credentials & Registration

  • Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) — registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia since 2009

  • Fee-only — no commissions, no third-party compensation of any kind; client fees are the sole source of revenue

  • Fiduciary — legally required to act in the client's best interest at all times

  • Independent — no broker-dealer affiliation, no product quotas, no corporate constraints on recommendations

  • 20+ years of financial advisory experience — including institutional portfolio management, planned giving, and private client advisory

Faith. Family. Finances — Why Servus Capital Management Exists

Most financial advisors operate inside a broker-dealer system — a structure that creates a built-in tension between what pays the advisor and what's best for the client. Allan Malina spent the early part of his career inside that system, at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, and left it on purpose.

Servus Capital Management was founded in 2009 as an independent RIA because the fee-only, fiduciary model removes that conflict entirely. No commissions. No product sales. No financial incentive to recommend anything other than what genuinely serves the client's plan.

The firm's name comes from the Latin word for "servant." That's not a brand decision — it reflects the reason the firm exists.

Allan Malina — Founder & Fiduciary Financial Advisor

Allan Malina is a fiduciary financial advisor and founder of Servus Capital Management in Forest, Virginia. He specializes in purpose-driven planning for retirees and mission-aligned organizations, helping them navigate the noise of the markets with a disciplined, quantitative process.

The Origin of a Purpose-Driven Advisor

Allan Malina’s story is one of resilience, faith, and redemption—shaping his lifelong commitment to service and stewardship.

Overcoming Early Hardship

After witnessing tragedy as a child and growing up on government assistance, Allan developed a deeply personal belief in the power of hope and the promise of a better future.

A Defining Moment

Following a devastating dump truck accident in 1996 that left him on disability for four years, Allan refused to let adversity define him. Instead, he returned to school at Liberty University, determined to build a professional life anchored in service.

The Spiritual Anchor

Since becoming a Christian in 1990, Allan’s hope has grown into a lifelong calling—to serve others, build stability for families, and help people steward their resources with wisdom and purpose.

How We Work — and Why It's Different

Before founding Servus Capital Management, Allan Malina worked in planned giving at Liberty University, where he led the effort to register the university to issue charitable gift annuities in 49 states — managing complex trusts, annuities, and institutional portfolios. That experience, combined with time at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, gave him a ground-level understanding of how large financial institutions actually work and where their interests diverge from clients'.

The investment methodology at Servus, including the proprietary QUAD Framework and Quantitative Portfolio Model, is built on the institutional discipline developed during that period — applied without the conflicts that come with a broker-dealer structure.

Stewardship — managing resources with wisdom, accountability, and a long-term view

These aren't aspirational statements. They're the reason Allan left a commission-based model to build something different.
